「Looking for Charlotte’s, Japan 2016 」/
LFCJP16 [Looking for Charlotte’s, Japan 2016] refers to the Japanese experience of the French designer Charlotte Perriand. Based on the method of an investigation, LFCJP16 starts with the approach of historical research in the Perriand Archives in Paris. In Kyoto, the project orients itself towards a more sociological approach. LFCJP16 offers a fictional narrative of, with and around objects. The purpose is to question with a sculptural approach the contemporary metamorphosis of the craft gesture into a process of production of forms and their manufacturing process, as well as their impact on the everyday practice of design and the forms that it implies.
The exhibition in FORUM focuses on the possibility of collaboration with a bamboo craftsmen, using the prototypes as a dialogue tool.
This project was made possible in the frame of a residency at Villa Kujoyama. Villa Kujoyama is part of Institut français du Japon and benefits from the support of the Fondation Bettencourt Schueller and the Institut français.
